In October 2019, Rani delivered 2 nights of highly nuanced concerts titled “Chøwa In Harmony” at the Esplanade Recital Studio, Singapore. The pairing with her close collaborators; Japanese pianist Akira Ishii and Singaporean guitarist Andrew Lim was an intimate and engaging performance of duos and trios. The musicians’ strong chemistry and synergy revealed the beauty of jazz as a unifying language that brings diverse cultures and people together, underscoring the theme of harmony. Rani is set to release another live album from these performances in the second half of 2020.
Whether in stadiums or cosy jazz clubs, with one accompanist or an orchestra, Rani Singam captivates the hearts and minds of audiences around the world with her unique and compelling style. Rani sings in English but has also performed in Malay, Tamil, Mandarin, Japanese, Portuguese, Swahili and Maori. Her versatility is also evident in the several musical styles she has embraced outside the realm of jazz through her performances of broadway, pop, folk, rock, ethnic and fusion music.
